Islamic Finance 101 In-Person

In a recent report, the Toronto Financial Services Alliance identified Islamic finance as an area of significant opportunity for the GTA and its financial services sector.  With a growing Muslim population here and abroad, more and more banks, insurance companies and other financial services firms are offering products compliant with Islamic law.

Come learn about this rapidly growing sector from a representative from the Islamic Finance Advisory Board and expert on the topic.  Rehan S. Khan holds the globally-recognized Islamic Finance Qualification, and speaks regularly about the topic of Islamic finance.

This presentation will introduce attendees to:

  • The basic principles of Islamic finance
  • The difference between conventional and Islamic banking
  • A definition of interest and usury (Riba)
  • Current Shariah-compliant finance products available in Canada
  • Career and professional development opportunities in Islamic finance.

The 45-minute presentation will be followed by Q&A.

Please bring your T-card to be swiped at registration.  One (1) PSDP point will be awarded for attendance at this event to MGT students.
